"If a man walks in the woods for love
of them half of each day, he is in danger of being regarded as a loafer. But if
he spends his days as a speculator, shearing off those woods and making the
earth bald before her time, he is deemed an industrious and enterprising
citizen."
--Henry David Thoreau
Beautiful sight.
ReplyDeleteClassic Thoreau!! And so true yet today!🌻🍃
ReplyDeleteSo true! The woods behind my wooded average were sheared 3 years ago. Not on did it appear bald, it appeared raped...and IT WAS DEVESTATING. IT LOOKED LIKE HELL! I guess the landowner needed to cut oak trees for timber, 200+ year old oaks....he went bankrupt anyway. Our beautiful walk is some better but it will never be the same.
