Tiny House Table Brought to you by Ikea

First, I admit to being currently a little obsessed with the music of Jonathan Coulton. Including this gem:

So that got me thinking about Ikea when it comes to tiny house furnishing. Everything is very small and reasonably priced. Consider it when you're buying accessories for your small space.

Then I thought about the Norbo. This is the wall mounted folding table that we have in our tiny house.
Look at how well it keeps that beer from crashing to the ground!

Well, apparently owning a Norbo is sort of required for tiny house owners. Don't believe me? Just ask Tammy and Logan about their Norbo. They gleefully stole the idea from Chris and Malissa. And I am pretty sure that Andrew and Crystal have one, though I don't know if they still use it. By my count that is 4 tiny house couples who own this stylish Swedish table. I think is some kind Norse tiny house initiation rite.

Won't you join us? Consider your Norbo today!

  1. Um, the Tiny r(E)volution does indeed own one! Proud Norbo owners and users! We are considering upgrading to the Norden (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20104718/) but will keep the Norbo for use in perhaps Tilly Madison's room. They are just perfect for tiny house spaces.

  2. We have two of these in our 10'x17' tiny house on wheels. One works as extra counter space, the other as a multi-purpose desk. We also bought this wonderful little drop leaf table at Ikea. When we first purchased it we were not sure how it would work but it has worked beautifully....takes up VERY little space when both leaves are down yet gives lots of extra table space when up even though it is narrow. Ikea's smaller matching chairs fit nicely underneath on both sides. Yeah, Ikea....our tiny house is primarily furnished with Ikea products.

  4. Funny, my husband and I saw one of these at IKEA (we used to live in an apartment with a view of IKEA across the highway) and thought it would be perfect for tiny house before people started mentioning them! Now that everyone seems to have one, I have no doubt it will be the perfect touch to our living space.

  7. I grew up in a small house and my mother build a baking center. It was basically a wall hung shallow book case with a folding table mounted to it. Closed, it looked like an enclosed rectangle on the wall. When she need to bake, she would unhook the front of the baking center, which would open down (hinged at bottom of bookcase)and she would swing the supporting bracket out from the wall under the bookcase. Now what was the cover over the bookcase was a counter and the bookcase held all the baking supplies. She grew up on a ranch in Idaho and used the ideas from the chuckwagon they took into the remote grazing areas. All of this before IKEA.

  8. Norbo is being discontinued as of now (12/15) Sigh.

    1. That is sad news indeed. An industrious person may want to start a Tiny House Table Company and replicate the design!
